The Castletown game was called off late on Friday and all available players headed for Ballakilley where Southern Nomads Greens became “Greens and guests” for their game against Ramsey’s Blues. The Blues back line was however a little too quick for Nomads though and they ran out 72-19 winners.
Josh Corteen cantered in for the first of his four after just two minutes and with five on the clock some quick ball found Brayden Roche wide on the right for Ramsey’s second with Dale Radcliffe converting one. Harry Goodwin then struck back for Nomads after Conor McCaughan stole some Ramsey ball and almost made it over the line. Sean Christian converted and Nomads trailed 12-7.
Radcliffe bagged Ramsey’s third and Corteen’s second was Ramsey’s fourth after a powerful run from almost halfway. Sean Christian then crossed for Nomads and converted his own try to leave Ramsey 24-14 ahead after a breathless opening twenty five minutes. Ramsey then started to ease away and tries from Jake Richmond and hat trick man Josh Corteen saw them leading 36-14 at the break.
A catch and drive line-out saw a guesting Will Keenan crossing for Ramsey after just two minutes with Dan Richmond converting from out wide. Nomads replied with a try from Connor McCaughan at the other end before Ramsey ran away with it. Dan Richmond took advantage of some broken play and bagged two in two minutes. Nathan Robson converted one of these and Ramsey were 55-19 ahead. In the closing stages Corteen ran in his fourth and Dale Radcliffe went over twice. With Keenan’s hamstrings tightening Radcliffe switched to number eight and picked up one from the base of a five metre scrum and the second from a tap penalty.
The game was ended a little early following a leg injury to Ramsey forward Ryan Bell and both teams wish him well for a full and speedy recovery.
