The opening ten minutes was a scoreless affair with both sides showing a bit of rustiness following the Christmas break. As the fifteen minute mark approached however Ramsey broke the deadlock. Josh Leece fired a penalty into the Nomads twenty two. Josh Corteen secured the line out and the Ramsey pack drove for the line. As the drive ran out of steam, hooker Ben Hardman peeled off and dived in to score. Four minutes later the lead was doubled. This time it was the Ramsey back line that did the damage with some quick hands finding Brandon Atchison and he punched through the Nomads line for his first of the game.
A big run from Ramsey number eight Stevie Kneale set up the third just after the twenty minute mark. He set up field position inside the twenty two and the backs did the rest with big wing Will Millsopp applying the finish. There then followed three more tries in the space of six minutes. Jake Richmond got the first when he ran back a goal line drop out, Ryan Wren poached the second from a line out and a perfectly weighted Richmond chip allowed Atchison to gather without breaking stride for the third. He also added two conversions to leave Ramsey 34-0 ahead at the break.
The second half gave Nomads no respite. Josh Corteen recovered the restart kick and raced in for try with just a few second on the watch. Two minutes later Sam Corlett bagged one from close range and Atchison’s conversion pushed the lead out to 46-0. Ten minutes into the half Ramsey replacement Danny Howard found space down the left wing to score and on the quarter hour mark Josh Corteen tapped a free kick and powered through some poor tackling for his second. Atchison converted to make it 58-0.
Nomads then pulled the shutters down and with Jack Sleight and Goerge Callister grafting hard, they managed to generate possession and territory. Ramsey however were always dangerous on the counter and after a scoreless ten minute period Stevie Kneale ran in a try which Atchison converted.
With just under ten minutes to play Ryan Wren set up a break from inside the Ramsey half and this was finished by Jake Richmond for his second of the match. Atchison converted for a 72-0 scoreline.. Nomads bagged two late but well deserved consolation tries. Finn McGregor dived in for the first, and Mark Young for the second which he converted himself.
