After putting sixty-four points past Vagabonds last week Ramsey beat Southern Nomads 121-0 at Mooragh Park this week. The big scorer was scrum half Dan Richmond whose two tries and thirteen conversions gave him a personal haul of thirty-six points. Nomads were doubly unlucky to be fair. In the run up to the game their squad was ravaged by a flu bug and they came up against a Ramsey team who were absolutely ruthless in attack and very confident after a big win the previous week.
Ramsey struck twice in the opening five minutes. Fintan Cummins joined the line from full back and put Peter Frankwick clear down the right wing for the first. Callum Clague returned the restart kick with interest as he charged upfield and offloaded to Adam Dunlop to finish. Dan Richmond converted for a 12-0 lead. Dave Keenan made the third when he broke clear and popped off the ground for Kieran Kneale in the tenth minute. Three minutes later Tom Moffatt broke the line with Matty Meechan in support. Meechan got into the Nomads twenty-two and sent Dan Richmond in for the score which he converted himself to make it 24-0.
The Nomads defence then stemmed the flow for almost ten minutes but finally cracked when Sami Benbatoul picked up a yellow card for slowing the ball down. From the penalty, Ramsey skipper Meechan crashed over the line for a score which Richmond converted. With a numerical advantage Ramsey stepped on the gas and added three more. Brandon Atchison raced in for the first, Peter Frankwick got the second and Dan Bonwick picked off a stray Nomads pass for the third which saw Nomads trailing 48-0 before they were back to fifteen on the field. As half time approached, Ramsey wing Frankwick completed his hat trick when Bonwick chipped ahead into space and Frankwick won the race to the ball. Dan Richmond converted to leave Nomads trailing 55-0 at the break.
As the second half got underway there was no let up. Brandon Atchison scorched in for two quick scores to also pick up a hat trick. Kieran Kneale ripped the ball clear from a Nomads attack and ran it sixty metres for his second and a 74-0 lead with thirty minutes still to play. A Fintan Cummins yellow card slowed Ramsey down a little, but Nomads also coughed up a card shortly afterwards and the advantage swung back. Dave Keenan and Callum Clague both went in for Ramsey who were 88-0 in front with just over an hour played.
In the closing stages, Atchison ran in two more, Dan Richmond weaved his way through the defence for a neat solo effort and Dave Keenan dotted down under the sticks to conclude proceedings.
