Dan Richmond missed an early penalty for Ramsey at a sunny Ballakilley Park, but the visitors took the lead shortly afterwards anyway. Ben Harding slipped a grubber kick through off the outside of his boot and Nomads were forced to scramble the ball into touch deep inside their own twenty two. From the ensuing line out Ramsey captain Matt Meechan charged over the line to score. Richmond added the conversion for a 7-0 lead.
It didn’t remain 7-0 for long with Ramsey attacking again immediately after the restart. Conor Goodall found prop Adam Dunlop found himself in acres of space and he was able to break through the defence and even sidestep the last man to score. Richmond added the conversion to make it 14-0.
Nomads lack lustre start continued and just shy of fifteen minutes Ramsey were in again. After setting up camp in the Nomads half a series of attacks swamped the home defence and after multiple phases, it finally cracked. Jack Roberts made the initial thrust for the line and when he was stopped just short Stevie Kneale was on hand to pick up and dive in. The conversion was missed and with the remainder of the half scoreless, the teams turned around with Ramsey 19-0 in front.
As the second half got underway Nomads finally came to the party. Mark Young used the breeze to keep Ramsey pinned in their own territory and twelve minutes in he found touch from a tight angle five metres or so from the Ramsey line. Ramsey went offside at the line out and after no advantage came to Nomads they went back for the penalty. Young tapped this quickly and he found Orry Watterson who was unstoppable from five metres out. Young converted and the lead was down to twelve points at 19-7.
The Nomads revival however was short lived as Ramsey struck back with three tries in five minutes just after the hour. A quickly tapped penalty led to the first. Dan Richmond shipped the ball wide to the right wing where replacement Sam Corlett dived in for his first of the season. Three minutes later a charging Jake Richmond squeezed an offload to the Ramsey paceman Brandon Atchison and he lit up the left touchline as he raced in from forty metres to score. Finally, two minutes later it was Atchison again. This time Henry Swithinbank was the provider and Atchison again finished from distance at high speed. Dan Richmond converted this score and Nomads found themselves 36-7 behind.
